Please contact the university you wish to apply to in order to obtain more detailed information on this matter. In addition, Italy offers two scholarship programs available to refugees and individuals in need of international or subsidiary protection. CRUI Scholarship Program Since 2016, the Italian Ministry of the Interior, together with the Conference of Rectors of Italian Universities (CRUI), has been awarding 100 scholarships each year to refugees and beneficiaries of subsidiary protection. Information about the available scholarships is usually published at the beginning of July. DSU Scholarship Program The Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MIUR) allocates annual grants under the “Right to University Education” program (DSU). These grants are financed through a dedicated fund known as the “Single Fund for Student Welfare and the Right to Study”. DSU scholarships are available to all students — both Italian citizens and international students — based on economic need and specific academic merit requirements. Refugees and individuals under subsidiary protection benefit from certain simplifications in income certification procedures in order to demonstrate their financial need. Scholarship administration is managed at the regional level, which means that conditions and requirements may vary depending on the region. Application periods usually open at the beginning of June and remain open throughout the summer. Exact deadlines are determined individually by each region. Information about available scholarships in your region or at your chosen university can be found on the DSU website: http://www.dsu.miur.gov.it/
