About the university
China Agricultural University (CAU) is a public national university in Beijing, part of Project 211, Project 985, and Double First-Class Construction. Its origins date to 1905; the current institution was formed in 1995. CAU has East Campus (17 Qinghua East Road, Haidian) and West Campus (2 Yuanmingyuan West Road). It offers 66 undergraduate majors, over 32 master’s and 21 doctoral programs across 18 colleges in agriculture, engineering, biology, economics, management, law, literature, and related fields. CAU ranks highly in agricultural sciences, food science, and plant and animal science. It has about 18,900 students and 1,400 faculty. Teaching is in Chinese and English (many programs for international students). The university has 22 dormitory buildings and hosted Olympic wrestling in 2008.

Campus life
CAU has East Campus (17 Qinghua East Road) and West Campus (2 Yuanmingyuan West Road). It offers 22 dormitory buildings for over 20,000 students, with elevators, dining, laundry, hot water, study areas, and bike storage. East Campus has 6 student apartment buildings; West Campus has 14 buildings mainly for graduate students. International students have dedicated housing. The gymnasium hosted wrestling at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Amenities include dining, shopping, laundry, entertainment, and ATM services. Application deadline for international students typically end of July.

For postgraduate: age under 35 (Masters) or 40 (PhD), English proficiency certificate, HSK for Chinese-taught programs or TOEFL 90+/IELTS 6.0+ for English-taught programs.
