About the university
The Autonomous University of Yucatán (UADY) is a public university based in Mérida with multiple campuses and faculties across the city and state. With origins dating back to 1812, it is one of the oldest higher education institutions in southeastern Mexico and offers undergraduate and graduate programs in health sciences, engineering, natural and agricultural sciences, social sciences, humanities, arts and business. UADY is consistently ranked among the top public universities in Mexico and has strong research output in biology, medicine, environmental science and engineering, often focused on regional issues such as biodiversity, public health and Mayan culture. Internships: The Autonomous University of Yucatán collaborates with hospitals, clinics, schools, research institutes, tourism and service companies and government agencies in Mérida and the wider Yucatán region. Many degree programs require supervised professional practice or social service, giving students practical experience in health care, engineering, education, environmental management, business and public administration. Internship and linkage offices help students find placements, sign agreements and integrate internships into their study plans.
