About the university
The University of Murcia (Universidad de Murcia, UMU) is a public university in the Region of Murcia, Spain. Officially founded in 1272 by King Alfonso X, it is considered the third oldest university in Spain and one of the oldest in the world, although the modern institution was re-established in the early 20th century. UMU has several campuses (such as La Merced in the city centre and Espinardo campus) and offers a wide range of bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs across humanities, social sciences, law, economics, education, health sciences, experimental sciences and engineering. It serves around 25,000–30,000 students and plays a key role in regional research and innovation. Teaching is mainly in Spanish.

Campus life
UMU has several campuses in and around the city of Murcia, including La Merced (city centre) and Espinardo (main campus). Internships: The Career Guidance and Employment Service (COIE) at UMU runs the UMU Employer program and events such as UMU Employer Fest, the largest university employment fair in the region, where more than 80 companies and institutions present job and internship opportunities. COIE also facilitates company presentations, visits and talent programs linking students and graduates to regional and national employers.
