University of Science and Technology of China( 中国科学技术大学, USTC)

USTC was founded in 1958 in Beijing by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and moved to Hefei in 1970. It is often called “The Cradle of Scientists” and focuses on frontier science and technology. About 20,000 students; 13 schools (e.g. Physical Sciences, Chemistry and Materials, Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, Management, Gifted Young). Strong in physics, chemistry, materials, engineering, computer science (top 0.1% in ESI). Campus at 96 Jinzhai Road, Baohe District, Hefei. Undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programmes; many doctoral programmes in English. Close ties with CAS; National Synchrotron Radiation Lab and other national labs. CSC, ANSO and USTC scholarships for international students.
