Housing is tight in Amsterdam; the university and DUWO offer limited places; many students rent privately.

Internships: Internships are supported by faculty coordinators and career centres (e.g. Economics and Business Career Centre). Students use the EB Career Portal, UvA Job Board (available up to 2 years after graduation), and study association job boards. Start searching 6–12 months ahead; international placements need extra time. Contract and approval processes are supported by the university. Many programmes include compulsory or optional internships.

  • Scholarships available: Amsterdam Merit Scholarship (AMS) is the main option for non-EU/EEA students: about €25,900 per year (2026–2027). For bachelor’s and master’s; requires strong grades (e.g. GPA 4.0 US, 8.0 Dutch scale, or First Class Honours UK). Deadline 15 January. Application: motivation letter (max 500 words), CV, transcripts. Faculty-specific scholarships exist in Economics and Business, Social Sciences, and others. Global Changemaker Scholarship supports exchange students.
