University of al-Qarawiyyin

The University of al-Qarawiyyin in Fez is recognized by UNESCO and Guinness World Records as the oldest continuously operating educational institution in the world, founded in 859 CE by Fatima al-Fihri. Originally a mosque and madrassa, it was incorporated into Morocco's modern university system in 1963. Offers programs in Islamic Studies, Arabic Language, History of Islamic Civilization, Rhetoric, Logic, and Islamic Law (Fiqh).
