Campus life

METU’s main campus is a large forested area on the outskirts of Ankara with its own lake (Eymir), extensive walking and cycling paths, and a vibrant social environment. Students live in numerous on-campus dormitories or nearby housing and have access to modern sports facilities, cultural centers, cafes and student clubs. The university hosts frequent conferences, festivals, concerts and career fairs, attracting companies and guests from Turkey and abroad. The international student community and strong tradition of student organizations create an active, multicultural campus life.

Internships: Many METU programs, especially in engineering and business, either require or strongly encourage internships. The Career Planning Center and departmental internship coordinators help students find placements in Turkish and international companies via the national Talent Gate platform and university–industry partnerships. Large career fairs on campus bring dozens of employers each year, offering internship and trainee positions. Students can also work part-time in university units, gaining practical experience while studying.

Tuition costs

  • Acceptance rate: 8.00%
  • Scholarships available: METU offers limited scholarships mainly in the form of tuition fee discounts or exemptions based on academic performance and financial need. Additional support may include meal, dormitory and small cash scholarships managed by the METU Scholarship and Tuition Fee Office. International students are generally subject to the same scholarship schemes as Turkish students and places are competitive. Some external government or organization-based scholarships can also be used at METU, and exchange students are usually exempt from tuition fees during their mobility period.
