Federal University of Rio de Janeiro

Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), also known as University of Brazil, is Brazil's largest federal university and a leading educational and research center recognized nationally and internationally. According to QS World University Rankings, it ranks first among federal universities in Brazil, third overall in Brazil, and ninth in Latin America. The university operates 157 undergraduate and 580 postgraduate programs, manages seven museums including the National Museum of Brazil, nine hospitals, 43 libraries, and hundreds of laboratories. Its predecessor, the Royal Academy of Artillery, Fortification and Drawing, founded in 1792, was Brazil's first higher education institution.
