Janáček Academy of Performing Arts
Janáček Academy of Performing Arts (JAMU) is a public arts university in Brno, Czech Republic, founded in 1947 and named after composer Leoš Janáček. It specializes in music, theatre, and multimedia arts and consists of two faculties: the Faculty of Music and the Faculty of Theatre. The university offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programmes focused on artistic practice, performance, and creative production. Education is highly individualized, combining theoretical instruction with intensive practical training such as performances, concerts, and productions. JAMU collaborates with over 60–90 partner institutions worldwide and participates in Erasmus+ programmes, enabling international mobility. It plays a key role in the cultural life of Brno through festivals, competitions, and public performances, and prepares graduates for careers in performing arts and creative industries.
