About the university
Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) is a private, secular, non-profit university founded in 1946 in Mexico City by the Asociación Mexicana de Cultura. It gained autonomy in 1963 and took its current name in 1969. ITAM has two campuses: Río Hondo (undergraduate) and Santa Teresa (graduate). It is one of Mexico’s leading institutions in economics, business, law, engineering, and international relations, with a strong reputation in the social sciences. It offers 13 undergraduate programs and various master’s and doctoral programs. About one in three students receives financial aid. Teaching is in Spanish. The institute reports a 97% employment rate for graduates, with many in top firms and consultancies.

Campus life
ITAM has two campuses: Río Hondo (undergraduate) and Santa Teresa (graduate). Facilities include a running track, gym, tennis and futsal courts, basketball and volleyball courts (open Mon–Fri 9–21). There are 20+ recreational and competitive sports; student residence with single rooms, cleaning, utilities, and breakfast. Student life includes academic clubs (ITAMMUN, CEEA, AEITAM), cultural groups (theater, radio, music), and the SALITAM representative body. Career Services and the job bank (bolsa.itam.mx) organize 80+ recruitment sessions per semester and an employment fair with dozens of employers. Environment is academic and professionally oriented.

Internships: ITAM’s Bolsa de Trabajo (bolsa.itam.mx) connects students (from 15% credits completed) and alumni with 6,800+ companies and organizes 80+ recruitment sessions per semester. More than half of students work before graduating; over 80% of graduates work in fields related to their degree. McKinsey, BCG, and other consultancies and banks recruit on campus. The employment fair brings together around 80 employers and some 1,450 students and graduates. Internships and first jobs are typically in finance, consulting, and industry.

- Scholarships available: ITAM offers scholarships covering 10% to 100% of tuition; about one in three students receives aid. Beca Baillères: 100% for six semesters for one top student per program (min. GPA 9.0, admission score, demonstrated need). Beca ITAM al Compromiso Académico: 10–90% for up to six semesters (min. GPA 9.0, socioeconomic study). Beca ITAM a la Innovación Tecnológica: 50% or 75% for engineering/tech students, no socioeconomic study. Other support: Beca Nuestro ITAM, Beca Miguel Mancera (maintenance, housing). After the sixth semester, repayable loans are available. Minimum high school GPA for admission 7.0.
