About the university
Harbin Institute of Technology was founded in 1920; in 2000 it merged with Harbin University of Architecture. National key university under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; C9 League member; Double First-Class Class A. Three campuses: Harbin (main—engineering, aerospace, defence), Weihai (marine science, biotechnology, software), Shenzhen (graduate school). About 24 schools; strong in engineering (US News #3), environmental engineering (#2), automation and control (#1 globally in some rankings), aerospace. Over 51,000 students; ~2,000 international. CSC (Agency 10213) and HIT scholarships. “Number One Apartment” is one of Asia’s largest student dormitories.
