Wuhan University was founded in 1893 as Ziqiang Institute; National Wuhan University from 1928. Comprehensive research university in Wuchang, Wuhan (299 Bayi Road), on Luojia Hill by East Lake. Six faculties: Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Engineering, Information Sciences, Medical Sciences; 34+ schools. About 60,000 students; strong in computer science (US News #16), chemistry, engineering. Famous cherry blossom garden (c. 1,000 trees). Double First-Class; Project 985, 211.
