About the university
HUST was formed in 2000 by merging Huazhong Institute of Technology (1952), Tongji Medical University (1907), and Wuhan Urban Construction Institute (1952). Comprehensive research university in Wuhan (1037 Luoyu Road, Hongshan) under the Ministry of Education; Project 985, 211, Double First-Class. Campus over 460 ha with 72% green space (“University in the Forest”). About 55,000 full-time students; 94 undergraduate, 225 master’s, 184 PhD programmes in 12 disciplines. Strong in engineering (US News #8), AI (#10), electrical/electronic (#14), energy (#4). Four divisions: Science, Engineering, Medicine, Liberal Arts and Social Science; 49 schools; affiliated hospitals (Tongji, Union, Liyuan). CSC (Agency 10487) and MOFCOM scholarships.
