Michoacán University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH) is one of the oldest universities in the Americas, with origins dating back to 1540, and is located in Morelia, Michoacán. It is a large public research university offering undergraduate and graduate programs in humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, health sciences, agriculture and arts. UMSNH is consistently ranked among the top public universities in Mexico and has a strong research profile in physics, chemistry, biology, environmental science and social studies. • Scholarships available: UMSNH charges low tuition as a public university and complements this with scholarships from federal and state programs and its own institutional funds. Students with strong academic performance or financial need can apply for tuition waivers, maintenance grants and support for transport or study materials. There are also specific scholarships for research assistants, cultural and sports activities and social service in Michoacán communities.
